
Known as "The Original Cold Day Restaurant," this venerable seafood institution has been around for over 140 years. The dark wood booths and white tablecloths appeal to a traditional clientele of tourists and Financial District-types. Any of the filets are recommended; favorites also include a wonderful Hangtown Fry and a surprisingly spicy seafood curry bake. The grumpy waiters aren`t really as surly as they seem.
Focusing on an American fare an emphasis on seafood and steaks, this is an upscale restaurant. Expect the average entrée to cost for the most part in the range of $20 to $30, and dress casual.
Atmosphere: The facility has a wood finished New England style décor. The lighting is bright. The décor is accented with classic brass. The establishment is spacious. It is friendly and energetic and patroned by all kinds of people. Table talk requires you to speak up a bit here.
